Becoming a new mommy
58Looking back
My son is almost a year old and I can't believe how fast he's grown! And looking back, I can remember all of the advice that I've received from my mother, friends that were experienced moms, parenting magazines and books as well as all the advice I looked up on the web on my own. And the one thing that I've learned is that there just isn't one way to bring up your child!!!
So as my opening blog, my first piece of advice to soon-to-be mommies is that you need to go with your gut feel about what's right. My sister said that nothing's wrong with family bed... I felt the need to have my son sleep in his own crib. My mom said he could start eating solids at 4 months... I waited until 6 months. The book I read told me not to give any medication for a fever unless it was over 102 degrees... I gave it to him at 101 degrees. GUT FEEL comes with the new mommy thing. I guess it's like that "sixth sense" that people say mothers have.
I think that a lot of new parents feel so much pressure and my main goal is to help out by letting parents out there know that when you bring that baby home for the first time, it's okay to not know what to do next. As you'll soon find out (probably in minutes), you'll have to figure it out what to do and all of a sudden, you're a pro!
